Who Should Attend?
This course is open to anyone who wants to enhance their teaching skills and broaden their knowledge in fitness training while striving for excellence in their career.
Clubs can nominate up to 10 participants per session to attend the course and elevate their qualifications.

The 4 practical days are designed to provide hands-on experience and ensure that participants can confidently apply the theory learned during the course. Each day will focus on different aspects of gym instruction, blending both practical demonstrations and guided learning.
Day 1: Introduction to the Gym Environment & Basic Techniques

The 4 practical days are designed to ensure you have both the technical skills and the interpersonal abilities to work effectively with clients and lead fitness classes. By the end of the course, you'll feel confident in your ability to manage both individual and group training sessions, design programs, and foster a positive gym environment.
Exam
The Gym Instructor (EQF Level 3) Diploma examination is a comprehensive assessment that takes place on the last day of the course. This exam ensures that all participants are fully prepared to work as professional Gym Instructors, equipped with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to succeed in the fitness industry.
Interim Assessments (Ongoing Evaluation)
Throughout the course, you will undergo interim practical and theoretical assessments. These assessments are designed to check your understanding and application of the course material. The results from these assessments contribute to your final examination score.
Practical Assessments: You will be evaluated on your ability to demonstrate exercises and lead clients through them.
Theoretical Assessments: You will complete quizzes and written tests to assess your understanding of the theoretical components such as functional anatomy, physiology, and gym instruction.
If you do not pass any of the interim assessments, you will be required to retake them. The details of these assessments and their timing will be communicated throughout the course, so you are always prepared.
Final Examination: Last Day of Course
The final examination is a combination of theory and practical assessments. The final day will include:

Format: 72 multiple-choice questions
Content: The exam will cover essential concepts in human anatomy and physiology relevant to gym instruction. Topics include the musculoskeletal system, energy systems, cardiovascular system, and more.
Pass Requirement: A satisfactory score must be achieved to pass the exam.

Gym Instruction Theory Online Exam
Format: 28 multiple-choice questions
Content: This exam will test your theoretical knowledge on gym instruction, including exercise techniques, safety standards, client engagement, and program design.
Pass Requirement: A satisfactory score is required to pass this section.
You will also have access to a mock exam with 5 sample questions to help you prepare for this theoretical portion.
Practical Assessments:
Group Instruction Practical Exam
Objective: You will be required to demonstrate your ability to lead a group of students through a set of 3 bodyweight exercises.
Details: The exercises will be chosen by the assessor on the day of the exam and must be selected from the exercises covered in the Gym Instruction manual.
Evaluation: Your ability to explain the exercises, demonstrate proper form, and correct students' form will be assessed. You must also show confidence and clear communication in guiding the group.
1-to-1 Instruction Practical Exam
Objective: In this part of the exam, you will have a 1-on-1 session with your instructor where you will explain and demonstrate how to correctly execute 3 equipment-based exercises.
Details: You will need to explain each exercise’s technique, safety considerations, and the muscles involved, demonstrating proper form and execution. The focus will be on your ability to give clear, concise, and correct instructions while ensuring safety and effectiveness in exercise execution.
Evaluation: You will be scored on your ability to teach and demonstrate the exercises accurately, while emphasizing safety and correct technique.
Completion & Certification
Once all components of the exam (both theoretical and practical) are successfully completed, you will receive your PFS Gym Instructor (EQF Level 3) Diploma. This will officially qualify you to work as a professional Gym Instructor, with the skills and knowledge needed to deliver high-quality fitness instruction and client engagement.
If you do not pass any of the exams, you will be given an opportunity to retake the relevant sections. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions for more information on examination procedures, re-takes, and the overall process.
