Course Structure: What to Expect

This programme is a 6-day blended learning course, combining online theory with live instruction and hands-on gym training. It is designed to take you from beginner level to a confident, job-ready gym & fitness instructor.

Days 1–2: Online Theory (Self-Paced)

You will begin with pre-recorded online learning that gives you a strong foundation before meeting your instructors.

PFS Functional Anatomy & Physiology®

Learn how the human body moves and responds to exercise.
You will understand muscles, joints, postures, and body systems, so you can train people safely and effectively.

PFS Nutrition Introduction®

Understand how nutrition supports fitness and performance.
Learn the basics of energy balance, macronutrients, hydration and healthy eating to support your training results.

You can study these modules at your own pace and revisit them anytime.

Day 3: Live Online Training Day

PFS ABC Gym and Fitness Knowledge®

This is a full-day interactive session with a live instructor.
It prepares you for both your practical training and your future career in the fitness industry.

During this day you will:

  • Learn how the full course works and what is expected from you.

  • Be introduced to PFS as a school and how your fitness career can develop:

    • from gym instructor

    • to group fitness instructor

    • to Personal Trainer

  • Understand what the fitness industry looks like in real life and how to find work

  • Learn how to prepare for your practical gym sessions.

  • Be shown what will happen during your hands-on training so you feel confident and ready

You will also cover:

  • Postural assessment and movement analysis

  • Basic exercise techniques

  • Gym safety and professional behaviour

You will meet the PFS teaching team, so you know who will be training you and feel comfortable before entering the gym.

Students can ask questions throughout the day and receive real-time feedback and guidance.

Days 4–6: Practical Gym Training (Tuesday–Thursday)

PFS GYM INTRODUCTION®– Practical Module

This is the hands-on part of the course, delivered in a real gym environment.

You will:

  • Learn to use:

    • gym machines

    • free weights

    • resistance bands

    • kettlebells

    • TRX and functional training tools

  • Practise correct exercise technique and coaching skills

  • Learn how to design and lead full-body workouts

  • Work with real people under instructor supervision

Training takes place in small groups (maximum 10 students) to ensure:

  • individual feedback

  • high teaching quality.

  • minimal disruption to gym members

This practical training prepares you to confidently step into a gym and begin working as a professional fitness instructor.

No Prior Qualifications Needed

This course has been carefully structured so that each qualification builds upon the last. That means no previous certifications are required — just your motivation, passion, and commitment to learning.

Total Duration: 6 Days
The course is delivered through a combination of online theory and in-person practical training. Each component is carefully designed to give you both the knowledge and confidence to begin your fitness career or train independently and safely.

Day 1 & 2 – Recorded Online Theory (Self-paced)

Modules:

PFS Functional Anatomy & Physiology®
Understand how the body moves during exercise. Learn about muscles, joints, energy systems, and how to apply this knowledge to training.

PFS Nutrition Introduction®
Learn how nutrition supports physical performance. Understand macronutrients, energy balance, hydration, and the basics of diet planning.

Access Anytime – Study at your own pace via our online learning platform.
Video materials, quizzes, and downloadable resources included.

Day 3 – Live Online Training

Module: PFS ABC Gym and Fitness Knowledge®
Time: 10:00 – 17:00 (CET)
Format: Full-day interactive session with course instructor

Topics Covered:

  • Gym Safety & Etiquette

  • Introduction to Gym Machines, Equipment, and Training Zones

  • Warm-Up & Cool-Down Principles

  • Basic Postural Assessment

  • Introduction to:

    • Bodyweight Exercises

    • Cardio Machines

    • Basic Stretching Techniques

  • Intro to "Muscle and Motion" Program

  • Fundamental Movement Patterns & Proper Execution

  • Q&A and Real-Time Feedback

Objective: To build foundational knowledge and prepare you for the in-person gym training sessions.

 

Days 4–6: Practical Gym Training (In-Person)

Time: 14:00 – 20:00 (Local Time)
Location: Selected gym venues (check your course schedule)
Group Size: Max. 10 participants for personal guidance and a non-disruptive experience

Day 4: Introduction to Gym Exercises

Focus: Bodyweight, Machines & Free Weights
Time: 14:00 – 20:00

  • Welcome & Orientation

  • Health & Safety Walk-Through

  • Understanding Gym Zones & Equipment Types

  • Intro to Resistance Machines

  • Practicing Machine Setup & Body Alignment

  • Warm-Up and Cool-Down Drills

  • Observing Movement Patterns

Day 5: Free Weights & Functional Equipment

Focus: Progressions & Regressions
Time: 14:00 – 20:00

  • Intro to Dumbbells, Barbells, Kettlebells

  • Fundamental Lifting Techniques:

    • Squat, Press, Deadlift Variations

  • Core Stability Training

  • TRX, Resistance Bands, Stability Balls

  • Safe Spotting & Support

  • Basics of Trainer–Client Communication

Day 6: Program Design & Circuit Training

Focus: Full-Body Workout & Resistance Band Circuits
Time: 14:00 – 20:00

  • Review of Movement Execution

  • Designing a Full-Body Beginner Program

  • Practicing Instructing in Pairs

  • Circuit Training with Resistance Bands

  • Final Feedback & Instructor Q&A

  • Course Wrap-Up

  • Certification Preparation & Next Steps

Course Dates & Locations

  • Online theory (Day 1–2) – Available immediately after registration

  • Live session (Day 3) – Held online via Zoom/Teams, 10:00–17:00

  • Practical sessions (Day 4–6) – Conducted in selected gyms, 14:00–20:00

Theory Exam – Online

Exam Details:

  • Format: 72 multiple-choice questions

  • Mode: Fully online

  • Timeframe: Must be completed within 1 month from your course access date

  • Standards: Aligned with EQF Level 3

  • Recognition: Internationally recognised certification upon successful completion

Practical Exam – Exercise Demonstration

Format:

  • A 20-minute practical session

  • You will be required to demonstrate 8 exercises, showcasing:

    • Proper technique and body alignment

    • Knowledge of movement patterns and muscle engagement

    • Safe and effective instruction skills

This assessment may be conducted live or submitted as a recorded video, depending on the course format and instructor guidelines.

 

 

Certification – EQF Level 3

Participants who successfully complete the course will be awarded the Gym & Fitness Instructor Certificate (EQF Level 3), issued by ProFi Fitness School.

This certification is aligned with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Level 3, which ensures your education meets recognized industry standards across Europe.

To receive your certificate, you must:

✅ Complete and pass the PFS Functional Anatomy & Physiology® online theory module
✅ Participate in and pass the 3-day practical training in the gym environment
✅ Demonstrate safe and correct exercise execution, equipment handling, and basic instructional skills

What does EQF Level 3 mean?

An EQF Level 3 qualification certifies that you have the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to work in the fitness industry under supervision or to support others in a gym setting. It also provides a clear progression route to EQF Level 4 – Global Personal Trainer certification.

This certificate is ideal for:

  • Those beginning a career in fitness

  • Individuals looking to deepen their understanding of safe and effective training

  • Future personal trainers preparing for more advanced education

Payment rules 

  • We operate on a first-come, first-serve basis with no exceptions.
  • To secure your place on the course the payment should be made upon registration.
  • We allow 5 calendar days to receive payment before your place is given to another person that has paid.
  • After 5 calendar days have passed, and we haven't received any payment, you will need to register again if places are still available.
  • There is no possibility to extend the 5 calendar day period. Registrations are not accepted if you have already registered and the initial 5 days have not elapsed.
  • If we have received a late Early Bird payment (i.e. you registered for Early Bird but we haven't received a payment within 5 calendar days) you will be switched to the Regular Price as outlined in our Terms & Conditions. No exceptions will be made.
  • If you have signed up at the Regular Price or Early Bird price and we haven't received the full amount from you before the start of the course, then you will be subject to Instalment payments.
